About Us

Our Story
Growing up on the West Coast at Baylys Beach /Dargaville, a passion for the farming and horticulture sectors has been instilled in us from an early age. We’re a family owned farming operation, with James (the green fingers) and Krista (the admin guru) both actively involved within the business, balancing (or you might say juggling) farm family life with our two young daughters in tow. We primarily grow Kumara and more recently, Garlic among our two farm locations on the outskirt of the Kumara capital town of Dargaville. We manage a total of 129 hectares of land and are farming a mixture of approximately 200 beefies all year around and 500 sheep (fattening) during the Winter months.
Our Garlic Varieties

It’s the first to mature out of the Turban family. Colour is purple blush on the skin and clove wrappers. It has large cloves & a medium flavour.

West Coast Turban - White Pearl
Has white coloured skin and clove wrappers. It has large cloves & a slightly hotter flavour with a nutty taste on the palette.

West Coast Turban - Rose
Has an attractive rose colour to the skin & clove wrappers. It has large cloves and a medium flavour. It has the potential to grow large bulbs.

West Coast Asiatic
Is a hard neck variety. With purple colouring of skin and clove wrappers. It has large cloves, along with a strong flavour and stores well.

West Coast Artichoke
Is a soft neck variety. With white colouring of skin, often it can have a purple blush to it as well. It has good sized bulbs. Has a strong flavour.

West Coast Creole
Is chiefs’ favourite! Has beautiful red skin cloves, medium size bulb and with a very strong/intense Garlic flavour.

West Coast Elephant
These are great to compliment the classic Sunday Roast. Extra large cloves and bulbs. White skin and a beautiful mild flavour. We have grown this variety up to 150mm in diameter.
Our Vision
Diversification
We’re excited to diversify our farming kete, with our resident Green-Finger James pursuing the dream of adding Garlic to our cropping mix post the aftermath of Cyclone Gabrielle.
We’re immensely proud to be growing Garlic in Rural Northland on the West Coast!
Inspire and Showcase
Our hope is to tantalize New Zealanders taste buds and inspire cooking enthusiasts - whether that’s getting our produce from the Garlic field to the heart of every home and being part of your dinner table conversations, or showcasing our delicious Garlic on the menu of restaurants across New Zealand.
Sustainable Produce
We are rural people who are passionate about growing and eating nutritional and sustainable produce, not only for our family but for New Zealanders a like.
